This Marketing/Public Relations company puts together a panel of professionals to speak with pre-teenage girls between the ages of 8-12 about various topics. I was targeted to speak on “How to Make Your Dream a Reality” and create Vision Boards.

The forums, dubbed “Let’s Talk … with the Mayor,” are held quarterly to provide a current status of the city, as well as provide an opportunity for citizens to come together and discuss their concerns and ideas for the city.

The “Why Not Vote?” Voter’s Registration Campaign was in efforts to get our young adults informed, involved and inspired to make a difference. I organized tour dates to get registered to vote, change your ad-dress, complete an absentee ballot and/ or get educated about both political parties.

This event gave each of the primary election candidates an opportunity to introduce his/ her campaign for 2-3 minutes and mingle with local voters. Along with a showcase tables in a separate room for each candidate.

Young Minority Leaders: 100 Hooded Men March - Co-Organizer
There were 300 hooded women, men and children marching in the rain for almost a mile to our local consolidated government building. The local media outlets came out to support as well as various city officials and the Mayor. I organized the marketing and the ceremony’s program as well as getting the parade permit.

Teen Enrichment Program: Self-Defense Course – Organizer
This Self-Defense training is an activity provided by the ‘Intact’ Community Service Program. Self-Defense can increase options and help prepare responses to slow down, de-escalate, or interrupt an attack. Like any tool, the more you know about it, the more informed you are to make a decision and to use it.

Columbus Water Works: Holiday Grease Recycling Event - Participated as a Grease Collector
Columbus Water Works has found that even a little grease from the many homes in the City adds up to clogged sewers in our neighborhoods. Clogged sewers result in unsanitary back-ups, overflows onto streets, foul-smelling odors, and costly damage to the sewer infrastructure. So as residents, we are all affected. We had around 52 people bring grease to be recycled and collected around 185 gallons of grease.

Safe Kids: Bike Rodeo Event - Assisted at the Survey Table
They gave away approximately 400 helmets to local children 14 and under. This annual event consisted of: Hel-met Fitting, Bike Inspection, Bike Certification, Safe Riding Lessons, Bike Security and so much more!

Keep Columbus Beautiful: Pharmaceutical Drop-off - Assisted as a Drug Collector
Columbus Water Works, Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission, Columbus Public Library, Columbus Police Department and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office collaborated to sponsor a prescription drug collection project to help keep our waterways clean.
